Press Release: Treasurer Candidate “Crypto Carter” Accused of Ripping Off “Trump-Loving Seniors” in Crypto Scam

A recent National Review article details Jeff Carter’s ties to a so-called “pro-Trump” cryptocurrency that a federal class action lawsuit alleges was used in an illegal pump-and-dump scheme.

Las Vegas – Leading Nevada State Treasurer candidate Drew Johnson is “outraged and disgusted” by Republican primary opponent Jeffrey “Crypto Carter” over his involvement in a cryptocurrency scheme that allegedly targeted and ripped off “Trump-loving seniors and retirees,” while attacking President Donald Trump and his supporters.

National Review article details Carter’s ties to LGBCoin, a so-called “pro-Trump” cryptocurrency. A federal class action lawsuit alleges that the meme coin was used in an illegal pump-and-dump scheme. According to the lawsuit, Carter created LGBCoin, and he and others promoted the coin with pro-Trump branding, NASCAR ties, and conservative personalities, drawing in unsuspecting investors.

The results were devastating.

As a result of the marketing, LGBCoin surged more than 5,000 percent before losing nearly all of its value, wiping out investors who had been led to believe they were backing a legitimate, pro-Trump investment. Among those targeted, according to the article, were “Trump-loving seniors and retirees.”

The National Review column further notes Carter allegedly sold hundreds of billions of LGBCoins while their value was skyrocketing, purportedly making as much as $1.5 million while some everyday conservatives lost their life savings.

At the same time Carter was preying on Trump supporters, he was attacking them in vitriolic online diatribes, the article claims.

“He is a great bullsh**er,” Carter wrote of Trump in 2016. “Thing of it is, when you are a great bullsh**er, you wind up standing in pools of sh**.”

Carter also wrote“Trump would not be yuge for America… There is no there there,” and later mocked Trump voters as “tone-deaf” while calling the MAGA movement a “cult.”

“Jeff Carter insulted Trump, mocked his supporters, and then allegedly swindled them out of their investments. Now he’s asking those same voters to vote for him in a Republican primary,” said Drew Johnson. “Republican voters should, and will, reject Jeff Carter in the June 9 primary.”

Johnson also warned that Carter is trying to use money from the alleged scheme to buy the office.

“He’s going to take the money he made from ripping people off and try to buy this race,” said Johnson. “Nevada voters aren’t for sale, and we’re not handing billions of dollars in state taxpayers’ money to an alleged con artist and fraudster.”

The National Review article also pointed to Carter’s own admission that he is a failed Chicago Mercantile Exchange trader who lost nearly $1.5 million trading, before fleeing Chicago for Las Vegas, further raising concerns about his financial judgment.

“Jeff Carter belongs in a federal penitentiary, not the State Treasurer’s Office,” Johnson added. “Nevadans deserve better than a bad investor and a crook.”

Drew Johnson is a career government watchdog and taxpayer advocate who is credited with saving taxpayers $60 billion. The conservative Republican is running for State Treasurer to protect tax dollars, restore accountability, and keep Nevada’s finances in responsible hands.
