Too many Nevadans are being asked to make major financial decisions without the practical information they need. Seniors are targeted by increasingly sophisticated scams, while young adults are entering the workforce without fully understanding credit, interest, student loans, or the long-term cost of debt. Nevada already requires financial-literacy instruction in its public schools and operates financial-education and student-loan resources through the State Treasurer’s Office, but those programs can be made more useful, accessible, and focused on real-life decisions.

As Treasurer, Drew will strengthen partnerships with schools, community organizations, financial institutions, and senior-serving groups to provide Nevadans with straightforward, practical guidance. That means helping students understand budgeting, credit scores, loans, saving, and investing before costly mistakes follow them for years. It also means making trusted scam-prevention information easier for seniors and their families to find before money is lost.

Drew will focus on tools Nevadans can actually use—from recognizing impersonation and investment scams to comparing loan terms, avoiding unnecessary fees, building credit, and creating a realistic path out of debt. Education is one of the first lines of defense against fraud, including scams that specifically target older Nevadans.

The goal is simple: give Nevadans the information they need to protect what they have, avoid preventable financial mistakes, and build greater security for themselves and their families.
