CARSON CITY, Nev. – Former Nevada Assemblyman Jim Wheeler has endorsed fiscal watchdog Drew Johnson for Nevada State Treasurer.

Wheeler represented Assembly District 39 from 2012 to 2022, serving communities across Douglas County and portions of Lyon and Storey counties, including Minden, Gardnerville, Genoa, Dayton, Stateline, Zephyr Cove, Silver City, and Virginia City. During his decade in the Legislature, Wheeler held several leadership positions, including Assembly Majority Whip and Assembly Minority Floor Leader.

A veteran of the United States Air Force and retired business executive, Wheeler brought extensive private-sector experience to the Legislature. His service included work on committees overseeing transportation, infrastructure, natural resources, the judiciary, state finances, veterans, senior citizens, and the needs of rural Nevada.

Johnson has spent his career exposing government waste, advancing transparency, and protecting taxpayers. As State Treasurer, he will bring that same commitment to safeguarding Nevada’s finances, lowering borrowing costs, returning unclaimed property, protecting educational opportunities for Nevada students, and holding government accountable for every public dollar.
