Johnson honored to join the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department for a ride-along
District F Clark County Commission candidate Drew Johnson was honored to join the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department for a ride-along on May 8.
During the ride-along, Johnson was able to experience a broad array of the types of incidents Metro officers face every day, from armed robberies and carjackings, to drug abuse and mental health issues, to automobile accidents and domestic disputes.
“I was constantly impressed by the compassion and respect Metro officers displayed while dealing with dangerous and heartbreaking situations,” Johnson said.
Johnson is committed to engaging with Metro leaders and state lawmakers to make it easier to hire and retain the Communications Specialists who answer calls from the public and dispatch officers on calls. This will reduce wait times for callers and ensure officers receive information more quickly and accurately. Johnson will also fight current Clark County Commission plans that would increase crime and gang activity throughout the Valley and make it more difficult for officers to do their jobs.
“Our current Clark County Commissioners have failed to prioritize public safety and often undermined the efforts of our police officers,” said Johnson. “Once elected to the Clark County Commission, I promise to work with Metro to make Clark County a safer place.”
